MUSIC TO MY EARS
Music is a integral part of my working practice, in the studio and within the Art Therapy groups that Laura runs.
These works were inspired by a collaboration with a photographer as a part of an artists residency at The Royal Edinburgh Hospital funded by ArtLink.
The photgrapher shared their playlist and how they felt when they were taking photographs and listening to their chosen playlist.
In response to their playlist Laura created marks in relation to how the music moved her.
The prints have been exhibited in The Orchard Medical Centre in Bonnyrigg, a space that supports mental health, offering a wide variety of services to the local community.
A exhibition took place in The Barefoot Sanctuary in North Berwick, a space recognised within the community as offering workshops and classes to support emotional and physical wellbeing.
With a love of instrumental music Laura continue’s to develop art work and at times animations in response to the music.
Lost at sea is an animation created in response to a time Laura felt overwhelmed and used music as a form of escapism. Lost at sea are images are composed in response to the music and Laura created a short animation as a way to document her feelings.
